Extended Migration Profile of the Republic of Moldova 2005-2010
The International Organization for Migration, Mission to Moldova (IOM), presents the first edition of the Extended Migration Profile (EMP) of the Republic of Moldova for 2005 -2010. The publication was made possible through the financial support provided by the European Commission’s European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument as part of the IOM-executed project “Supporting the implementation of the migration and development component of the EU–Moldova Mobility Partnership”.
The publication was developed by the Bureau for Migration and Asylum (BMA) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova with the support of IOM Moldova. BMA was designated, by the Government Decision No. 634 (as of 24 August 2012) on approving the List of indicators and EMP template of the Republic of Moldova, as the institution responsible for producing the EMP.
This analytical report follows the EMP template approved by the Government Decision No. 634 and covers four basic blocks of information and analysis, namely, Part A: Migration Trends; Part B: Impact of migration; Part C: Migration Management Framework; and Part D: Key Findings, Policies’ Implications and Recommendations; as well as annexes with statistical tables containing data on migration provided by the relevant institutions, in compliance with the List of indicators approved by the above mentioned Government Decision.
The EMP is a country-owned tool developed in consultation with a wide number of government and nongovernment stakeholders to be used for enhancing policy coherence, evidence-based policymaking, and mainstreaming migration into national development planning.
